Bonnie Battey, Ph.D., R.N. is a consultant, educator, parish nurse, healing touch therapist, hospital chaplain, workshop and conference coordinator with more than five decades of experience. In her current line of work, Dr. Battey runs her own private practice. In 2017, she was recognized on the Woman of Distinction Honors Edition.
Dr. Battey is known for her research investigating spiritual care in health care services. This research explores the role and importance of spiritual care as viewed by patients and the amount of spiritual care they receive from nurses and medical personnel.
Dr. Battey attended Wagner College and earned a BSN in 1955 from the institution. By 1960, she had received an MS in Nursing Education from Vanderbilt University. Viewing education as an integral part of her career and life, she returned in the late 1970s to earn a PhD from the University of Kansas in 1980. She has followed this up with postgraduate work at the National Center for Nursing Research. She is a certified registered nurse in several states including, Arkansas, Tennessee, New York, Virginia, North Carolina and California.
